LNER 12 Ton Fitted Van

PROTOTYPE. Several thousand of these 10ft wheelbase, vacuum brake fitted, wooden underframe versions of the LNER’s standard van were built from 1934 onwards. They lasted well into BR days and worked all over the country. They were XP rated and so could run in local passenger trains and one of these vans tacked onto the rear of a sleepy branch line local to convey urgent traffic to the junction would be a common sight.

KIT. The etched body components are designed with overlapping and interlocking joints to help assembly, which is very straightforward. The sliding doors are white metal castings. A pre-formed brass roof is supplied.

The casting moulds for this kit have completely worn out. I would like to do some slight improvement work on a number of the masters before making new moulds and then produce a fully illustrated desktop published instruction booklet. This requires a less busy period of sales and production for me to find the time to do this but I have every intention of reintroducing the kit in a refreshed format.
